What are Podcasts?
Typically, when I explain Podcasts to people one simple thought comes to mind… it’s like a radio show… only digital. However, if you’re looking for a formal explanation, a Podcast is a “free service that allows Internet users to pull audio files.” You can listen to them on your iPhone using the “Podcast app” or use a service like Spotify. Many Podcast hosts also have them available on their website and you may have seen many podcast recommendations
Why Should I Start Listening to Podcasts?
Podcasts are an incredible way to learn, be entertained, AND intake information in a short amount of time. I typically listen to them when I’m cooking dinner or driving because I can keep my eyes focused on what I’m doing, but still listen.
There are podcasts for almost every interest imaginable. If you’re a person who’s addicted to true crime, there are a thousand podcasts for that. Need motivation? Podcast. Want to listen to the news? Podcast. EVERYTHING you can imagine is available in podcast form… including kid-friendly options.
I prefer listening to three types of podcasts…
- Motivational Podcasts
- Informative Podcasts (Business, Teaching Strategies, Etc).
- Mysteries/ True Crime Podcasts haha

My Top Mindset Podcast Recommendations
The Ed Mylett Show
The Ed Mylett Show is my #1 podcast recommendation. It somehow manages to be a “catch-all” podcast. It’s appropriate for anyone at almost any phase of your life, but specifically for improving your teacher mindset!
The host Ed Mylett gives practical advice for improving your mind, body, and life while providing a heavy dose of inspiration. Ed makes me want to be a better teacher. He inspires me to try different types of lessons and this motivation ripples to my students as well.
All around, Ed seems like such a wonderful person. He’s always present with the guests on his show and he sees the best in people. Using only a fraction of the tips and mindset shifts he offers in his podcasts, I feel like a better person and a better teacher.
Manifestation Babe
Manifestation Babe is a bit esoteric but in the best way. I’ve loved this podcast from the moment I started listening. Each episode feels like chatting with a friend over coffee. They’re casual yet jam-packed with incredible advice that inspires me to be a better teacher.
The host, Kathrin teaches listeners about the power of the mind and how we can use it to create a life we love. She offers many mindset tips and tricks that I use with my students throughout the school year, specifically instilling a growth mindset and getting into a good frame of mind prior to a test.
Kathrin also discusses topics such as the law of attraction, growth mindset, and stepping out of comfort zones.

The Lo and Zo Show
Lauren and Zoey are people that I would want to be friends with in real life. They’re down to Earth, motivating, and offer short episodes on living a more positive and fulfilled life.
One of the things I love most about The Lo and Zo Show is its emphasis on getting into a good state of mind so that we can positively impact other people, such as our students and coworkers. This is my favorite “change your mindset” podcast to date.
The CEO Teacher Podcast
This podcast is perfect for teachers, specifically teachers that may want to extend their work beyond the classroom. Kayse Morris gives actionable steps and advice for becoming a CEO teacher inside and outside the classroom. Additionally, Kayse touches on topics such as finding a work-life balance, being a mom, and overcoming challenges inside and outside of the classroom.
Transform Your Life From the Inside Out
My fifth on the list of podcast recommendations is Transform Your Life From the Inside Out, hosted by Jim Fortin. Jim is a leader in coaching clients and has been helping people rewrite limiting beliefs and rewire bad habits for 20 years. He touches on topics such as perfectionism, setting goals, creating wealth, and changing your identity.

Oprah’s Super Soul Sunday
Anything involving Oprah is guaranteed gold. On her podcast, she interviews some of the most influential people in all facets of life. During each episode, there are so many nuggets of knowledge and each guest is captivating in their own way. Some of her most recent guests have been Elizabeth Gilbert, Brene Brown, Dr. Phil, Bradley Cooper, and even Buddhist Monks. With each guest, you learn an important skill that you can apply to change your mindset or change your life.
School of Greatness
My last on my list of podcast recommendations for teachers is The School of Greatness podcast touches on just about every topic imaginable. Lewis Howes has interviewed hundreds of influential people and gather incredible insights into their lives, habits, and how they have impacted the world. For example, world changers such as Tony Robbins, Kobe Bryant, Sara Blakely (the owner of Spanx), and Ariana Huffington have all been guests on The School of Greatness.
