Your inner child is the person you were before puberty. This includes what you learned, emotional responses, and what they (parents, teachers, and other adults) taught you to think. They say it is a part of our unconscious mind and is the “personality” that takes over when you are facing a challenge. Many people feel as though they need help with the recovery of your inner child or help in reclaiming the inner child. Here are some ways to get started with the recovery of your inner child.
What is Recovery of Your Inner Child?
Childhood is where we developed a lot of core parts of our personality. Although as we grow our personality and ways may change. We still have subconscious beliefs that run our programing today. These are the core parts, and these are our inner child. When we are working on reclaiming the inner child, we need to look specifically at these parts.

You want to acknowledge your inner child first. Understanding it is there and that you need to work on and look at parts of your childhood which may have caused you pain. There are many ways to help with reclaiming the inner child. Here are just a few ways.
Write a Letter to Your Inner Child
After you have acknowledged that your inner child is there. The first thing that is helpful when reclaiming the inner child is to write a letter to that child. Address a letter to the child version of you and imagine the child is going to read it. Tell the child all the things she needs to hear. For example, you are beautiful, everything will be okay. Carve your own path, trust yourself, you are safe; you are worthy, etc. Don’t hold back when you are writing this letter. This will start the recovery of your inner child in the right place. Allowing you to get connected with your inner child right at the beginning of the journey.
Journal to Help Reclaim The Inner Child
Using a Self Care Journal is a great way to really connect with the recovery of your inner child. Many self-care journals include a healing section. Self-Care journals are a great place to start reclaiming the inner child and looking at it closer. Many people often find writing as their inner child is also helpful in the recovery of the inner child.

Recognizing patterns you are seeing in your present life and thinking about how you would like to change them. Then sitting and putting your present self aside while you think of what pieces of your childhood are causing these patterns and reactions and journaling about them to help with reclaiming your inner child.
Inner Child Meditation
Meditation is a great tool in all self care and self healing. But it really works wonders when reclaiming the inner child. Inner child meditation is where you visualize the inner child. You go back to a memory of the child version of you and you speak to them. You can tell the child anything you feel they need to hear. Tell the child how they are safe, how much you love the child, hug the child, and listen to the child. See if that child says anything back to you.

These meditations will help with the recovery of your inner child. Being able to talk and connect with the child version of yourself in this way will bring healing. Meditations are also significant experiences to share with your therapist or write about when you are journaling in your Self-Care journal.
Talk to a Professional About Recovery of Your Inner Child
You may also want to work with therapists and life coaches. These professionals have a lot of technical skills and can help you on your journey. You are looking at your present emotions and reactions. As well as parts of your childhood that may be difficult to face alone. This is where having someone to talk to and discuss the recovery of the inner child with is important.
There are many therapists who specialize in this type of work. They specialize in looking at your emotions, thoughts, and beliefs to help you learn more about yourself. This will really help you understand your inner child and help you on the journey of recovery of your inner child.
